JFM Block & Estate Management have achieved accreditation by the Leasehold Knowledge Partnership (LKP). For us, this is a major milestone. Our stance on developer relationships and a refusal to work for freeholder-investor landlords has struck a chord with the organisation.

Overseen by campaigner, Sebastian O’Kelly, LKP are the only charity in the country that represent the interests of leaseholders / service charge payers. LKP have fought tirelessly in recent years for reform of a sector burdened by archaic legislation and incestuous relationships.

We have been outspoken in the past about the limitations of ARMA (The Association of Residential Managing Agents). Although we intend to join ARMA in the future (once we’ve met the requirement of having two years’ trading accounts), it really is more of a trade body than a genuine regulatory body. LKP, as an independent charity, are in existence solely to represent leaseholders who pay service charges. We feel they are much better-placed therefore to comment on which agents are following best practice.

This is a proud moment for us in a year which has seen our vision of empowerment for home-owners become a reality.
